The word Publishing has changed meaning  in recent years, an increasing number of content and material is being publishing digitally. The exponential increase can be tracked to the second generation eReader, the Amazon Kindle. While in 20011 Penguin the Global Publisher reported an increase of eBook sales from 5-10% per week, in the next 5 years it has been predicted that upto 40% of book sales will come from eBooks. The need for paperbacks and hard backs still remains, however is on the decline.

Personal publication is on the increase, were an author traditionally might seek a publisher, they are now publishing to the web, instead. Blogs, Wordpress and social media sites allow for content not only to be published but also be changed or updated with relative ease, much of this content appears to be free and unmonetised.
